Whether your business is set up on the mainland or in a free zone, you get a dedicated bookkeeper who understands your structure, monthly reconciliations on a fixed schedule, and reports that are actually useful for VAT filing, Corporate Tax registration, and day-to-day decisions — all delivered through secure cloud accounting platforms.

If your books aren’t keeping pace with your VAT or Corporate Tax obligations, book a free consultation and let’s talk through what your business actually needs.

What Is a Virtual Bookkeeper?

A virtual bookkeeper manages your financial records remotely using secure cloud accounting software, so you get ongoing bookkeeping support without needing someone in your office every day. For UAE business owners — whether on the mainland or in a free zone — that means your bank feeds, invoices, VAT records, and payroll are reconciled and reported on a fixed schedule, with a dedicated bookkeeper you can reach directly by phone, WhatsApp, or email. Whether you call it virtual bookkeeping, remote bookkeeping, or outsourced bookkeeping, the goal is the same: an experienced bookkeeper handling your accounts accurately every month, so you’re never scrambling before a VAT return deadline or a Corporate Tax filing. We work with UAE businesses of every size — from newly licensed free zone startups to established mainland trading companies — and with the tax agents and auditors who serve them, giving them a reliable bookkeeping partner without adding headcount.

What Is Corporate Tax-Ready Bookkeeping?

Corporate Tax-ready bookkeeping means your monthly books are organized and reconciled in a way that your tax agent or auditor can use directly to prepare and file your UAE Corporate Tax return — without having to rebuild your records first. Since UAE Corporate Tax registration is mandatory for nearly every business (even those below the AED 375,000 profit threshold, which file a nil return), having clean books ready year-round avoids a scramble at filing time.

What Is VAT-Ready Bookkeeping?

VAT-ready bookkeeping means your taxable sales, input VAT, and output VAT are tracked accurately throughout each period, so your VAT return can be filed through the FTA’s EmaraTax portal on time and without errors. This matters whether you’re already VAT-registered or approaching the AED 375,000 mandatory registration threshold — clean monthly tracking means you’ll see registration obligations coming rather than being caught out by them.

Why UAE Businesses Need Professional Bookkeeping

Patterns we see regularly among UAE clients:

VAT complianceUAE VAT is charged at a standard rate of 5%, with mandatory registration once taxable turnover exceeds AED 375,000 (voluntary registration is available from AED 187,500).
Missing the threshold or filing late both carry real penalties.
Corporate Tax registration and filingsince the UAE introduced federal Corporate Tax, every taxable person generally must register on EmaraTax, even businesses below the AED 375,000 profit threshold, which still need to file a nil return.
Free zone qualifying income conditionsfree zone companies that want to keep 0% tax treatment on qualifying income need to meet specific conditions, and bookkeeping needs to reflect qualifying versus non-qualifying income clearly.
Multi-currency tradingmany UAE businesses buy and sell internationally, and tracking AED alongside USD, EUR, or other currencies accurately is essential for correct VAT and profit reporting.
Owner timeevery hour spent reconciling accounts or chasing invoices is an hour not spent growing the business.

Understanding the UAE’s Business Environment

The UAE’s economy includes a dense concentration of free zone trading and logistics companies (in zones like JAFZA, DMCC, RAKEZ, SHAMS, and others), mainland businesses holding trade licenses from each emirate’s Department of Economic Development, a major real estate and property management sector, a large tourism and hospitality industry, and a fast-growing e-commerce and professional services base. Free zone and mainland companies are governed by different licensing authorities and, in some cases, different tax treatment — bookkeeping needs to reflect which structure your business actually has, not a generic template.

UAE Business Landscape: Key Statistics

The UAE has crossed 1.4 million registered and active companies as of early 2026, supported by more than 46 operational free zones across the country.
DIFC alone reached 7,700 active registered companies in H1 2025, a 25% year-on-year increase from 6,153 in H1 2024 — reflecting the pace of company formation in financial free zones specifically.
A new Free Zone Mainland Operating Permit (introduced under Dubai Executive Council Decision No. 11 of 2026) now allows qualifying free zone companies to legally operate in the mainland market without needing a local sponsor — a structural change to how free zone businesses can trade.

Recent Bookkeeping and Tax Updates in the UAE

Small Business Relief is ending2026 is the last chance to elect it. Businesses with revenue at or below AED 3 million can currently elect 0% corporate tax under Small Business Relief, but this relief is only available for tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2026. From 2027, the standard 0%/9% regime applies to everyone regardless of election.
Mandatory e-invoicing is arriving in phases. A voluntary pilot begins July 2026, with mandatory compliance for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more required by January 2027, and smaller VAT-registered businesses following through mid-2027.
VAT credits and refunds now expire after five years. From 1 January 2026, any unclaimed VAT credit balance or refund application expires permanently after five years — previously, businesses could carry these forward indefinitely.
The FTA’s penalty framework was rewritten, effective April 2026 under Cabinet Decision No. 129 of 2025 — worth reviewing with your tax agent if you haven’t already.
This section will be updated periodically to reflect regulatory changes — always confirm current requirements with your tax agent or auditor before making filing decisions.

Where We Work in the UAE

We work with businesses across all seven emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah — the same way: through secure cloud accounting platforms, with a dedicated bookkeeper who understands your free zone or mainland structure. Majoka Accounting Ltd is a federally registered Canadian company with a team based in our Dubai office, so you get people who understand both the local regulatory environment and international bookkeeping standards.

Whether your trade license is issued in Dubai’s DED, Abu Dhabi’s ADDED, or one of the many free zone authorities across the other emirates, our process is identical, and we connect with clients by phone, WhatsApp, video, and email.

Common Bookkeeping Challenges in the UAE

A free zone trading company crosses the AED 375,000 VAT threshold mid-year without noticing, and by the time it registers, it owes VAT retroactively along with a late-registration penalty. A mainland retailer assumes Corporate Tax registration only matters once profits exceed AED 375,000, then discovers every taxable person must register regardless, even to file a nil return. A hospitality business pays staff in cash informally instead of through the Wage Protection System, creating compliance exposure that surfaces during a routine audit.

Structured monthly bookkeeping is built specifically to catch these situations before they become expensive.

Questions About Bookkeeping in UAE

Scope of Service

We’re a bookkeeping firm, not a licensed tax agent or external auditor — we don’t provide statutory audits, tax agency representation before the FTA, or tax advisory opinions. What we do provide is bookkeeping, VAT-ready records, Corporate Tax-ready financial reporting, and payroll support, and we coordinate directly with your tax agent or auditor whenever that’s useful.
